In January 2026, the organisation was formally established as a registered non-profit, created solely to deliver meaningful acts of remembrance through stair climb memorial events in the UK and overseas.

The Southampton Memorial Stair Climb is a multi-agency charity event open to firefighters, police officers, paramedics, NHS workers, coastguard, and all emergency service personnel.
Participants will complete the climb in full PPE, carrying the weight of remembrance with every step. Together, we climb so they are never forgotten.
This is The UK & Ireland Memorial Stair Climb’s inaugural UK event. Created to bring the spirit of the Atlanta Memorial Stair Climb home, giving UK firefighters and emergency responders the chance to take part in something meaningful.

Take part and bring your friends & family – Alongside the climb there will be displays of historic and modern emergency service vehicles, food vendors, and more, something for all ages and a real celebration of the people who keep us safe.
The year 2026 marks 25 years since the events of 9/11.
In September 2026, The UK & Ireland Memorial Stair Climb will take 343 firefighters to the United States. Each firefighter will represent one FDNY firefighter who died while trying to rescue others at the World Trade Center, ensuring that each of the 343 are remembered individually not as a number, but as a person and a firefighter.
This one-to-one act of remembrance sits at the heart of everything The UK & Ireland Memorial Stair Climb do.
This is more than a physical challenge. It’s a tribute to courage, a show of unity, and a commitment to support those who continue to serve.
