Armed Forces Week
This Armed Forces Week, we’re proud to support programmes that help veterans access the care, connection and support they deserve.
The Blue Light Card Foundation has announced a new national portfolio of nature-based wellbeing programmes designed specifically to support NHS staff, emergency responders, veterans and wider uniformed communities across the UK.
Delivered in partnership with specialist organisations, the programmes bring together woodland-based activity, therapeutic horticulture, residential retreats, mountain-based wellbeing and sport-based reconnection initiatives under a coordinated national approach focused on recovery, resilience and social connection.
The portfolio responds to growing concern around levels of stress, burnout, trauma exposure and social isolation affecting frontline workforces, while reflecting increasing interest in evidence-informed, preventative approaches that sit alongside clinical and statutory support.
The programmes will support participants from across the blue light community through structured outdoor activity, peer connection and time away from high-pressure operational environments.
Together, the programmes create a diverse network of support delivered across woodland, mountain, horticultural and outdoor sporting environments throughout the UK.
The initiative aligns with growing evidence surrounding green social prescribing and nature-based wellbeing approaches, which research suggests can support stress reduction, emotional regulation, social connection and overall wellbeing.

This Armed Forces Week, we’re proud to support programmes that help veterans access the care, connection and support they deserve.

This Men’s Health Week, we’re shining a light on Walk & Talk 999 – a free network of weekly walks bringing together men from the Blue Light, NHS and Armed Forces communities across the UK.
There’s no pressure to talk. No expectations. No judgement.
Some people come for the conversation. Some come for the fresh air. Some simply come to be around others who understand.
What matters is showing up.
