Ickle Pickles Children's Charity

Blue Light Card Foundation have provided a grant towards items for the on call Dr rooms and staff room at Croydon Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as items for the staff to keep warm in the winter months.

A spokesperson for Ickle Pickles said:

“The Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity supports neonatal units and we often find it hard to raise funds dedicated to helping neonatal staff. Whilst we aim to give every newborn a chance by focusing on babies in neonatal care, the work and well-being of neonatal care teams are very important for the ongoing care of tiny babies. Many people are unaware of the challenges faced by neonatal staff and the vital work they do. Caring for sick and premature babies can be emotionally and physically demanding, and neonatal staff often work long hours under difficult conditions.

Currently, the on call doctors room and the staff rooms at Croydon Hospital’s neonatal unit are not welcoming, relaxing or fit for purpose. This grant will make a huge difference in improving these facilities. It will help the teams rest, refuel and relax on their breaks, to energise and ready themselves for the remainder of their shift.

Small changes can make a big difference. The funds from Blue Light Card Foundation will ensure that neonatal staff have the resources and facilities they need to provide the best possible neonatal care. This generous donation shows the dedicated team at Croydon Hospital that their life-saving work is valued and appreciated.”
