Nature Beanz Adventures

Funded: May 2023

Blue Light Card Foundation is funding a programme of outward bound events for members of the Blue Light community and their families.

Sectors supported: Blue Light community

Nature Beanz Adventures was set up in 2019 when owners, Gareth and Lidia, identified a need to provide outdoor education and learning opportunities for local children and adults in the area. Their primary goal is to support people on low incomes or living in poverty to access the benefits of the great outdoors and incorporate it into everyday life.

This grant will help to support their social enterprise community-led initiative, Wild Wellbeing in the Community. The aim of this initiative is to run funded award programmes for Blue Light families and engage the Blue Light community with the great outdoors, improving their view of the world and their lives.

These activities have fantastic outcomes for all those involved: building confidence, resilience, friendships, communication skills, improving physical and mental wellbeing, and raising environmental awareness.

The programme will enable families of Blue Light communities to socialise in the great outdoors and build friendships with other emergency service workers. Beneficiaries will also get the opportunity to participate in bushcraft sessions and survival workshops.

“This grant is a massive boost to us and to the Blue Light community. This will allow us to run wild wellbeing sessions for emergency services and their families. It will allow families to spend quality time together in the great outdoors. It will also help people feel more connected and serve as a support network for each other.”
