We were delighted to welcome David Crews, Station Commander with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Trustee of the Blue Light Card Foundation, to Blue Light Card HQ for their latest Inspire Me session.
David shared his powerful journey and insight as the dedicated Mental Health Lead for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. Drawing on both professional expertise and personal lived experience of being bereaved by suicide, David is a passionate advocate for improving mental health support across all responding agencies.
He currently chairs a multi-agency working group that addresses the impact of child and young person deaths on the emergency responder community, supported by the Royal Foundation Emergency Service Senior Leaders Board.
As a Trustee of the Foundation, David reminded us why the mental health of emergency responders must remain a top priority for organisations and leaders alike. His openness, experience, and advocacy left our team feeling informed, inspired, and motivated to continue championing wellbeing across the Blue Light community.
Thank you, David, for joining us and for the invaluable work you do in supporting the mental wellbeing of emergency responders.
