Last week, our CEO Emma Woods-Bolger attended the Service Dogs UK Conference & Dogs in Service Awards.
The event was a moving celebration of the incredible difference wellbeing and PTSD assistance dogs make to the lives of serving and retired members of the blue light community, veterans, and their families.
Emma said:
“It was an honour to be there and hear the powerful stories of how these dogs change lives. The awards were incredibly emotional, with moments of hope, courage, and the remarkable bonds created through these partnerships”.
The Blue Light Card Foundation is proud to partner with Service Dogs UK to support their accredited PTSD Assistance Dog Programme. This partnership will helps 12–15 members of the blue light community, both serving and veterans, diagnosed with PTSD each year. Participants are paired with a dog, primarily sourced from rescue, or their own dog if suitable, over a 9–12 month training journey. Each partnership not only provides practical support but also builds confidence, independence, and the chance to thrive again.
Emma will be sharing her reflections in a blog post next week, capturing the emotional stories told during the awards.
We are proud to continue supporting projects like this, which make such a impact on the wellbeing of our Blue Light community.
